Auto Buying Program FAQs
How is CarOracle different from Costco Auto or TrueCar?
Costco Auto and TrueCar are referral platforms that connect buyers with participating dealers at preset pricing tiers. CarOracle represents you, not the dealer, through the full transaction, including pricing verification, negotiation, trade-in, and delivery coordination. A referral platform's obligations run to its dealer network; a licensed auto broker's obligations run to the client.
Why does having representation matter when buying or leasing a car?
A vehicle purchase is the second-largest financial decision most households make, and the transaction is structured to favor the seller. According to Experian's State of the Automotive Finance Market Q4 2025, the average new car loan payment reached a record $767 per month. At that payment level, the cost of a poorly negotiated deal compounds significantly over a 69-month average loan term.
How does CarOracle charge for its services?
CarOracle charges a flat client fee: $99 for new vehicles and $299 for used. We may also receive compensation from the selling dealer, which is standard and legally permitted practice for California-licensed auto brokers. Our obligation to act in your interest is not affected by how compensation is structured.
Is an auto broker the same as a car dealer?
No. A California-licensed auto broker does not hold vehicle titles or sell from inventory. An auto broker is authorized to arrange vehicle purchases on behalf of buyers, a separate legal function from dealership operations. The California DMV issues the autobroker's endorsement under a different regulatory framework than a dealer license.
Can CarOracle help me lease a car, or only buy one?
CarOracle handles both purchases and leases. According to Experian's State of the Automotive Finance Market Q4 2025, the average new vehicle loan payment was $767 per month versus $613 for a lease, a $154 monthly difference that depends entirely on how the lease is structured. We evaluate money factor, residual value, and capitalized cost on your behalf before the lease is signed.
Where does CarOracle provide auto broker services?
CarOracle provides licensed auto broker services throughout California, with active operations in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside County, and San Diego. Most clients work with us remotely, so geography rarely limits the engagement.
Does CarOracle sell cars from its own inventory?
No. CarOracle's primary function is buyer representation, not inventory sales. We source vehicles from the broader market, including dealer stock across California, based on what is right for the client.
How long does the car buying process take when using CarOracle?
For a new vehicle in current inventory, most transactions move from initial consultation to delivery in one to two weeks. Timeline depends on vehicle availability, your decision speed, and delivery logistics. We provide a realistic estimate at the outset of each engagement based on current market conditions.
What is the best way to get started with CarOracle?
Schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation by clicking "Book Consult" in the lower-right corner of this page. Most clients have a clear direction within the first conversation.
Is it worth using a car broker if I can find pricing online?
Online tools provide price transparency, but they do not negotiate or represent you. Cox Automotive's 2025 Car Buyer Journey Study, the average buyer spends nearly 14 hours across research, dealership visits, and closing. CarOracle compresses that time, verifies whether a published price reflects actual market conditions, and manages the parts of the transaction where buyers are most exposed: negotiation, add-ons, and financing terms.
What does an auto broker in California actually do?
A California-licensed auto broker represents the buyer, not the dealer. CarOracle sources vehicles, verifies market pricing, negotiates terms, coordinates trade-ins, and manages the transaction from search to delivery, acting exclusively on your behalf. California requires a specific autobroker's endorsement from the DMV to provide this service legally; CarOracle holds License #43082.
